Dear Class of 2030,
As we approach Arrival Day, I want to share a few thoughts to help you have a successful transition to Wesleyan.
Starting college comes with a lot of new independence and a lot of information. Over the coming weeks, you will receive important emails about deadlines, requirements, programs, and opportunities. Please make it a habit to read your emails carefully, keep track of deadlines, and give yourself enough time to complete tasks.
I will always do my best to communicate important information clearly, but I won’t always be able to send individual reminders or answer every question personally.
Before reaching out with a question, take a moment to ask yourself:
- Was this information already shared with me?
- Have I read the information that was already provided?
- Have I checked the Wesleyan website or another available resource?
- Am I reaching out to the right person or office?
If you’ve done those things and still aren’t sure, please ask! Asking questions and seeking support are an important part of the college experience.
As you begin this transition, start finding a system that works for you to keep track of information and deadlines. You won’t have everything figured out right away, and that’s okay. Learning how to navigate college is part of the experience, and we are here to help you along the way.
