Dear Class of 2030,
Course pre-registration opens tomorrow, July 30, and will run until August 14 at noon ET.
One of the many things that makes Wesleyan unique is the open curriculum. Allow yourself to discover courses outside your comfort zone, explore classes that you find interesting or that you didn’t get a chance to explore in high school. Your goal should be to create a balanced and enjoyable schedule.
At this stage, your focus is on exploring your academic interests, not declaring a major. However, doing some research now will help you select classes that align with your interests and meet early requirements for certain majors. The Academic Road Map details majors with specific early requirements, so refer to this resource as often as necessary.
During orientation, you will have an opportunity to meet with your faculty advisor to further discuss course selection.
Resources Available:
- Academic Peer Advisors (email: peeradvisors@wesleyan.edu)
- Registrar’s Office (for technical issues only: registrar@wesleyan.edu)
When exploring courses:
- Review department websites to learn more about majors and course offerings.
- Consider Wesleyan’s general education expectations as you build your schedule.
- Balance courses across different subject areas and levels of challenge
I encourage you to approach this process with curiosity. Your first semester is an opportunity to explore new interests while beginning to build a strong academic foundation.
